Keep your promises.

Make a promise to yourself, choose what a miss costs, and prove it every day. You’re only charged if you miss a deadline.

How it works What it costs

How it works

Make a promise to yourself. Prove it every day. Pay only if you miss.

  1. The coach in the app: a conversation that sets a check-in for 7 on weekdays and sums up the week so far

    1Make a promise

Say what you want to do in your own words. Swear It works out the schedule, the deadline and how it can be proved, and you can change every part of it.

  2. Today in the app: a promise to go to the gym before 9am, the time left to check in, and the words “$10 charged if you miss”

    2Prove it

A photo, a check-in at the gym, your step count, a timer or an app you already use. Proof is checked in seconds, and you get the result and the reason.

  3. Money in the app: $20 charged in September after $6 refunded, and a list of charges and refunds, each with its reason

    3Pay only if you miss

Miss a deadline and the amount you chose is charged to your card. Every charge is listed with its reason, and one that was wrong is refunded.

What it costs

Two things, kept separate: the subscription pays for the service, and a missed day is charged only when you miss one.

Swear It Plus

$29.99 a year

Or $4.99 a month. Both start with a 14-day free trial. The subscription is what lets you make new promises. It is bought and billed through the App Store or Google Play, shown there in your own currency, and renews until you cancel it.

A missed day

$5 to $100 your choice

The amount you set on a promise for each day you miss. It is charged to your card only when a day is missed. Keep your promise and you pay nothing. A missed day never costs more than $100, and a week never more than $200.

Adding a card costs nothing, and no money is taken or held when you make a promise.

The same for everybody

The most it can cost

$100

The most a missed day can cost, whatever you set.

$200

The most anybody is charged in a week, across all their promises.

3 in a row

After three missed days in a row on a promise, further misses on it are not charged until you keep a day again.

14 days

To appeal a charge, or to send your proof late and have it refunded.

How a missed day is charged

Every rule is in front of you before you agree to a promise.

  • You agree first

Before you save a card, the app shows exactly what you are agreeing to: Swear It may charge that card the amount on a promise each time you miss it, without asking again each time.

  • What counts as a miss

A day is missed when its deadline passes, plus any grace you set, without proof that counts. Proof is checked against what your promise says counts.

  • Every charge is shown

You are told the moment a charge is made, with the reason. Every charge and refund is listed in the app.

  • If it was wrong

Appeal within 14 days, or send your proof late within 14 days, and the charge is refunded if the day was kept. You can ask a person to review any decision that led to a charge.

  • Days off, and stopping

Take a day off, end a promise, or delete your account. The refund and cancellation policy says how each works. If you set a lower weekly limit of your own, it holds.

  • What Swear It is not

Whether a promise is kept depends only on what you do, never on chance and never on anyone else. No money passes between people, and nothing is deposited or held. The amount for a missed day is a fee you set for yourself.
